"A lovely, gentle fantasy。" –– KIRKUS

Now available in paperback, revisit the enchanting world of Tea Dragons with the beloved companion story to the two-time Eisner Award-winning graphic novel The Tea Dragon Society

Rinn has grown up with the Tea Dragons that inhabit their village, but stumbling across a real dragon turns out to be a different matter entirely! Aedhan is a young dragon who was appointed to protect the village, but fell asleep in the forest eighty years ago。 With the aid of Rinn’s adventuring uncle Erik and his partner Hesekiel, they investigate the mystery of his enchanted sleep。。。 but Rinn’s real challenge is to help Aedhan come to terms with feeling that he cannot get back the time he has lost。

Critically acclaimed graphic novelist K。 O'Neill delivers another charming, gentle fantasy story about finding your purpose, and the community that helps you along the way。

This was such a sweet book。 I liked the first one enough that I got one of the tea dragons on a kickstarter campaign, and she sat with me while I read it。 I've got the next one ready to go as well, when I need a feel good palate cleanser。 It was very wholesome, while also celebrating diversity, and I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys the graphic novel format。 This was such a sweet book。 I liked the first one enough that I got one of the tea dragons on a kickstarter campaign, and she sat with me while I read it。 I've got the next one ready to go as well, when I need a feel good palate cleanser。 It was very wholesome, while also celebrating diversity, and I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys the graphic novel format。 。。。more

lovelyThis book is just as lovely as the first book。 I love the inclusion of characters with different abilities and backgrounds。 The inclusion of a deaf character as well as the character(s) that seemed to have different faiths was awesome to see included in this book。

I'm so excited to have this second book in the series already。 It looks as though the author is releasing one of these each year? Hopefully it continues! This book features completely different main characters than in the first one, although both Hesekiel and Erik appear again。 But they are younger, and still in their bounty hunting days, before Erik was in the wheelchair we saw in The Tea Dragon Society。The main character of this graphic novel is Erik's niece Rinn。 She grows up in a town where I'm so excited to have this second book in the series already。 It looks as though the author is releasing one of these each year? This book features completely different main characters than in the first one, although both Hesekiel and Erik appear again。 But they are younger, and still in their bounty hunting days, before Erik was in the wheelchair we saw in The Tea Dragon Society。The main character of this graphic novel is Erik's niece Rinn。 She grows up in a town where tea dragons are looked after by the entire village instead of bonding only to one human like in the case of Hesekiel and Erik's tea dragons。 The differing ways of looking after tea dragons is talked over in this book and it's kind of nice how everyone respects those differences。 Rinn is a bit of a forager in the nearby forest。 She's looking for ingredients that others in the town have asked of her when she comes across Aedhan, a young dragon who has been asleep for the last 80 years。 This is a dragon who was meant to look after the town for that time and is absolutely devastated to realise that they have already failed in their duty by falling asleep for such a long time。 As it turns out, there is a creature in the forest causing people to fall asleep, and that's where Hesekiel and Erik come into it, talking the creature down and convincing it that putting people to sleep for what amounts to a human lifetime may not be the kindest thing。 In the meantime, Rinn and Aedhan become close friends as Rinn helps Aedhan come to terms with the time that's been lost。 。。。more

Even though it's the second volume, I still enjoyed reading it (lucky me that it's not technically a sequel, otherwise I woud'nt understand anything)。I really liked the idea of choosing sign language as the leading way that the characters communicate- never saw this concept before(really recommend to read one of the first pages before the plot begins, it will help understand the story a lot better)。 I kind of enjoyed the fact that O'Neill unexplicitly drops sign of romantic relationships, all ov Even though it's the second volume, I still enjoyed reading it (lucky me that it's not technically a sequel, otherwise I woud'nt understand anything)。I really liked the idea of choosing sign language as the leading way that the characters communicate- never saw this concept before(really recommend to read one of the first pages before the plot begins, it will help understand the story a lot better)。 I kind of enjoyed the fact that O'Neill unexplicitly drops sign of romantic relationships, all over their work。 。。。more

Mientras más leo sobre estos personajes, mientras más conozco su historia, sus deseos, sus sueños, mientras más me adentro en este mágico mundo de O’Neill, más me enamoro。 No quiero parar de leer, necesito que hayan muchos más。 🥺💜Mi frase favorita: “Just because something comes easily to you, does not mean it has no value。You find it effortless because you love it, and that is why it is your gift。”Sigo deseando con todas mis fuerzas un Tea dragon, 🥺😭 alguien regáleme uno, o dos, o los que sean🥰🫖 Mientras más leo sobre estos personajes, mientras más conozco su historia, sus deseos, sus sueños, mientras más me adentro en este mágico mundo de O’Neill, más me enamoro。 No quiero parar de leer, necesito que hayan muchos más。 🥺💜Mi frase favorita: “Just because something comes easily to you, does not mean it has no value。You find it effortless because you love it, and that is why it is your gift。”Sigo deseando con todas mis fuerzas un Tea dragon, 🥺😭 alguien regáleme uno, o dos, o los que sean🥰🫖🐉 。。。more

What a great addition to the Tea Dragon world! Once again the art is very nice and the characters are a ton of fun。 The events in this graphic novel start before the events in the first one。 We get to see two of the characters from the first novel in this one and get to learn more about them。 Super cute and I will be keeping up with this series!

Andrea

Lovely story and lovely art! This one has a stronger story and stronger characters, in my opinion, than the first book。 I love the worldbuilding of the little village and the contained feeling of the story。 I really enjoyed my time with this one! And I love the effortless portrayal of diversity。

Eye-ra

This was my least favorite of the three。 That being said it’s still so so dang good!! These stories just make you feel relaxed and comforted。

4。5 stars rounding up to a 5I actually liked the first book better as, and I can't believe I'm saying this, had less of a plot。 Of course it's still a story, but it actually benefitted better to less is more story-wise。Finally, I liked this book a little less because of some elements that are in our world, don't need to be in this kind of fantasy world。 I suppose some things can't be helped like the train。 (Although it still could've been removed) But even then, kind of to my first point, becaus 4。5 stars rounding up to a 5I actually liked the first book better as, and I can't believe I'm saying this, had less of a plot。 Of course it's still a story, but it actually benefitted better to less is more story-wise。Finally, I liked this book a little less because of some elements that are in our world, don't need to be in this kind of fantasy world。 I suppose some things can't be helped like the train。 (Although it still could've been removed) But even then, kind of to my first point, because of these "random" elements, I just wanted to enjoy the story when the world building in terms of this can somehow be part of our world, but also no, was very confusing to me and I wish these elements were taken out。 。。。more

Absolutely Adorable! This is one of the fist times I have come across Sign languages in a graphic novel and I loved that! Such inclusions especially in pictoral formats help increase awareness among people。

Kristen

This graphic novel has the most colorful and beautiful illustrations! An inclusive story that is just so sweet。

Recent Reads: The Tea Dragon Festival。 K O'Neill's graphic novel takes to the home of the alpine tea dragons, a high mountain village。 When the village's guardian wakes after an 80 year sleep they feel out of place, but gatherer Rinn helps them find the home they need。 Delightful。 Recent Reads: The Tea Dragon Festival。 K O'Neill's graphic novel takes to the home of the alpine tea dragons, a high mountain village。 When the village's guardian wakes after an 80 year sleep they feel out of place, but gatherer Rinn helps them find the home they need。 Delightful。 。。。more

This is such a sweet children's book series that really does a lovely job introducing the reader to the ways people might be different in a really normalizing way。 There are nonbinary characters that show up without being emphasized and sign language is depicted in a way that doesn't feel like the author trying to win diversity points or anything like that。 This is such a sweet children's book series that really does a lovely job introducing the reader to the ways people might be different in a really normalizing way。 There are nonbinary characters that show up without being emphasized and sign language is depicted in a way that doesn't feel like the author trying to win diversity points or anything like that。 。。。more
